Another Internet speed test pitting four 3G phones against one another. The takeaway? 3G coverage is lousy in Oakland. Or ... Noah has no idea what he's doing.

The heat's getting to me, but I still managed to unbox the LG Chocolate 3 for Verizon Wireless. LG went from slider to flip for this latest Chocolate, and VZW threw in support for Rhapsody music subscriptions. Check it out ... and don't hold me accountable for my not-funny jokes.
LG's Dare for Verizon might well be the best camera phone currently available through a US carrier. And oh yeah, it's got a full touchscreen and 3.5mm headphone jack. Dare is hot.
Engadget Mobile's got a photo of the Verizon LG Voyager with titanium
trim. They say it's gonna be available tomorrow from VZW via phone and
Web, though it may not show up in retail outlets for a bit longer.
What they - and I - don't know is if Titanium + Visual Voicemail =
Voyager Refresh, or if there's actually a new, newer Voyager 2 in the
works as has been rumored.
I can tell you three things here:The only way Verizon is...
During week 8 of the PhoneDog days of Summer, we saw one lucky winner take home the Motorola Q9m. Well our friends at Motorola want to keep the fun rollin' and have generously contributed 3 more Motorola Q9m devices for us to add to the sweepstakes!
We will continuously add the Q9m's to the list giving 3 more of you the chance to walk away with this great Verizon Wireless phone.
Q. Hi, I saw your comparisons of the LG Dare and Samsung Instinct and I had some more questions about the two. I have some specific questions for the two phones that I'd like some answers to 1. Which touchscreen is better? Which is more responsive? When you're typing which screen works better? I've heard ppl vouch for both sides so I'd like a good extensive opinion from an actual reviewer. 2. Which browser is better? Because I've...
Verizon Wireless today announced the availability of Visual Voicemail to users of their LG Voyager handset. The move comes, oh, 15 months (give or take) after AT&T launched the first visual vm service in America on the Apple iPhone. Timing aside, this is a good thing - cell phones may have been invented to help people contact one another when away from home, but we all know Caller ID was the true revolutionary advancement in telecom...
BGR's got a photo of an alleged Verizon Wireless inventory screen that shows an item that may be of interest to some of you: "RIM BlackBerry BB9530 Global." BB9530? That would be a 9500-series device, which would make it the
Thunder (or is it "Storm") touchscreen BlackBerry that everyone's all
in a tizzy about. BGR's also claiming confirmation of an October 13th
release date for VZW's said RIM touchphone monster. I'm...

LG Chocolate 3 (VX-8560) - Verizon WirelessYou can bemoan the move from slider to flip as the end of the "real Chocolate phones." Whatever. Chocolate 3 is the best Chocolate yet for a few simple reasons: Better UI, better external controls, and a 3.5mm headphone jack. Seriously, this is the first Chocolate...

Pros: Many retail stores in areaCons: Horrible signal, horrible interface and phonesSummary: I have been using Verizon Wireless for 6 years. This year was the worst of them. My phone, the LG enV2 was unusable after they did a software update. They said everthing was fine, but it would not turn on after. I was even in the store, and the people let me borrow a charger, but still nothing. A support associate looked and said the main board was fried. This was just two weeks after renewing the contract. They would not replaced the phone for me, even though I didn't leave the store. They said to buy a new $300 phone, pay $150 for a small chance of fixing it, or pay the termination fee. Verizon doesn't support old phones anymore, so I had to waste hundreds of dollars to continue service. I am now at AT&T, but here is my previous expierience.
I live in Greensboro, NC, where there is supposed to be service. 2 out of 5 phone calls are dropped each day. There is extended network in the Verizon Store and my house. The only reason I have stayed with them is because of good service along I-40, where I travel a lot. Now at At&t, I have traveled thousands of miles without one dropped call.

Pros: Great Service (customer service; store walk-in & telephone have always been great), Great Selection of phones, Coverage is excellent.Cons: They do cripple their phones where you cannot modify or hack your phone and Verizon is the most expensive of all the carriers but you get what you pay for......Summary: I have been with Verizon for over 5 years now and never had any problems with their products or services. They have even replaced my phones with no hassles or questions asked. I would recommend this carrier to anyone. Verizon does cost more but its well worth it.

Pros: Great coverage, friendly customer service, issues quickly resolved. Cons: It's a little pricey but its worth it.Summary: It's a great service. I've never had a dropped call and customer service is great. All my friends are on it and so it makes the IN unlimited texting worth it. I recommend it to anyone.

Pros: When using service in their coverage area and no towers are down, service is greatCons: Absolutely limited coverage area!! Cheap pay as you go phones have more service area!!!Summary: Over priced, overrated, too many dead zones to list, don't get what they advertised as far as coverage area!
By: Eric Buck on Tuesday, June 17, 2008 From: San Diego, CA (United States) Experience: 8 Months
Pros: GREAT coverage. Super fast DATA compaired to ATT. Great customer service. Cool new handsetsCons: Not the cheapest but I guess you have to pay for what you get.Summary: I've tried the others. When Verizon says something you know it is the truth.
Hey Brian
Most of the models have a voice memo function, but I'm not sure which one offers a true voice recorder.
Your best bet is probably to visit your local Verizon store and test out a few models. I'm sure the higher end models like the HTC5800
We are nearing the end of our contract with Sprint. It would simplify things (calling friends and relatives) if we could switch to Verizon. But I carry around and use a digital voice recorder, and was hoping that with a new phone I could get a built-in voice recorder. My current phone has "voice memo" which borders on completely useless. I'm hoping for the ability to record and play back time-stamped recordings limited...
I would go with the HTC SMT5800 smartphone - it has a lot more features and doesn't use Verizon's crappy UI.
Have you tried using the Voyager? I played with the phone for about two seconds before losing interest. The phone is jsut a glorified music player.
I think you are able to try the phones out for like 15 days or so before committing to a model.

I am looking at getting a voyager for my new phone with verizon, my friend however just got a htc so I feel like the voyager is lacking. Is there any phone out there that can compete with his features or atleast get me close? I know that verizons network limits me so if the voyager is as good as it gets then so be it. Any advice would greatly be appreciated, however please dont tell me to get a blackberry as I dont like their...
CDMA stands for Code division multiple access - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CDMA
GSM stands for Global System for Mobile communications - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GSM
There are some phones that will work on both systems - they are called "World Phones", They have a seperate slot for a SIM card to allow it to roam on the GSM network.
Here is an example of a world phone from Motorola...
It may just be me, but does anyone really care about a phone that is already out dated? Does anyone know when the rumored Treo 800 is supposed to be released???
Even though I'm not a big fan of Treo's with the right design they could make a comeback.
