I definitely favor Android over Windows Mobile, but when it comes to Sense, no matter what the underlying OS, the surface is lovely.

i liked the video very much. had a lot of my questions answered. also got to look at both phones side by side. otherwise i felt that you cannot comment on a phone if you already are going to give it a thumbs down from the get go. if you are going to do an honest comparison you really got to give an unbiased comparison. in this case you mentioned many times how you like the android. i see this as not being an informative video for someone who is teetering on the fence on which of these two phones to pick.

Why does the HD2 have to take away key space with all of those arrows? I'd rather they just made the letter keys bigger to make it even easier to type.

Word. Good fight. Hate WinMo. Always behind. Android's gravy - but a bit dull. Feels like a knockoff iPhone OS. You dropped Web OS in there and, for that, sir, you get a gold star. Respect to all you who have experienced and, hence, fallen in love with the Palm devices. Peace.

A knockoff iPhone OS? You must not have gone in depth with Android because it's no where near similar in any way to the iPhone OS. But to each his own, right? I don't knock you for your opinion though.

The Tmobile version will be better, ROM (from 512 MB to 1 GB), a jump in RAM (from 448 MB to 576 MB). Rumored to come out March 24th

What do I know about these phones after 16 mins? That the reviewer is more used to Android phones.
As far as features go, the Sense UI and the Amoled screen are the things that separate them, but I want to know which one has a more responsive gps, which one takes better photographs, which one handles video better?

Did you have any problems with the Nexus re-booting or freezing up while you've been testing it? How's the touch screen working?

Thanks

I've had my N1 for a month now and using it heavily. Never rebooted (on it's own), never froze. But I do have an occasional issue where the screen freaks out and it doesn't register the correct location for where I touch. Happens about every other day. I reboot it and it's temporarily fixed. Otherwise I've found the touch screen to be very accurate and responsive.

As always thanks for the review. I think John confused something when slamming the "settings" towards the end of Part 1 and beg of Part 2 - which is why I'll post this comment in both areas. When he was strongly stating his dislike for the scattering of the "settings" and blaming it on Windows, he is TOTALLY INCORRECT. If he would have tapped on the setting widget - which is located in the sliding widget bar on the homescreen with all the other widgets he was tapping - you would have seen that the SETTINGS ARE ALL NEATLY GROUPED as they are on the NEXUS1. Here is a link to a youtube vid that shows this ( skip to 5:55 on the vid )

http://www.youtube.com/mobileburn#p/search/2/U2TJ505GsYM

John is showing the arrangement of widgets in the "Start menu" of the OS which will show every widget so of course they are scattered. Now there may be room for improvement in organization of the Start area he was showing, but to refer to this area "Settings" is inaccurate.

joey82 is absolutely right. The Sense UI has a 'Settings' tab, and there is no reason to ever use the stock MS interface.

I'm sorry but you forgot to mention the most important fact that distinguishes both phones
that is the Nexus One uses an AMOLED screen meaning more vibrant colours
